The new industrial policy of Ghana has recently been approved by the Cabinet.  PACEC contributed to the development of the policy in late 2008-early 09, providing expert advice on how science and technology can be better exploited for innovation and economic development.  A press release by the Ghanaian Ministry of Trade and Industry can be found by clicking here.

PACEC presented at the Assocation of African Universities Conference of Rectors, Vice Chancellors and Presidents (COREVIP) 2011 Conference in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The topic: "towards a holistic approach to higher education policymaking in Africa: the contribution of knowledge exchange". PACEC completes a series of working papers on knowledge exchange in the English higher education sector building on the extensive evidence base gathered for the evaluation of HEFCE third stream funding.

The working paper series included papers on the synergies between knowledge exchange, research and teaching; understanding the infrastructure underpinning this type of activity and how it has evolved over time; how HEIs engage use knowledge exchange to generate civic and community impacts; the IP regime; and a comparison with the United States.  The US study sought to address a number of 'myths' that pervade the debate on knowledge exchange.  The papers can be downloaded here
