About Us

PACEC is a well established economic development and regeneration consultancy with a core team that has been working together for almost 20 years.

Our Aim

  • To improve economic and social wellbeing and the quality of life
  • Provide creative solutions to economic development and regeneration
  • Meet challenges

We offer services throughout the UK and in Europe from our Cambridge and London offices.

PACEC has a team based approach to its projects through:-

  • Consultancy project management teams
  • An economic profiling and forecasting team
  • An in-house survey research team of interviewers
  • A survey and data analysis team

We bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to projects with staff who are experienced applied economists, social policy advisers, planners, and statisticians, and are specialists business development and enterprise, innovation and technology transfer, clusters and sectors, inward investment, labour markets and training, neighbourhood renewal and social inclusion, and property initiatives.

PACEC's strong conceptual skills allow us to understand economic issues and marshal the relevant evidence for policy development.

PACEC has collaborative links with other organisations to help strengthen our resources, including the University of Cambridge, and a network of specialist companies and research bodies across the UK, Europe and North America.

Environmental Policy

PACEC tries to ensure minimum impact on the environment by such actions as recycling where possible, walking to work or cycling where possible and not using the lift. The company aims to:

  • Purchase products and services which do the least damage to the environment while encouraging community awareness and participation; for example, the paper pads we buy are made of recycled paper.
  • Work with others in the local community to encourage good environmental practices.

Waste minimisation

PACEC tries to minimise the production of waste in the company in many ways, including:

  • Minimising energy and water use in its buildings, for example:
    • Lights should be switched off when rooms are vacated for lunch or for the rest of the day. Staff should take the initiative and switch off lights that have been left on in empty offices.
    • Computers should be switched off at night unless they are needed for Internet services such as remote access.
  • Minimising the production of waste, for example:
    • Only printing out documents and emails if strictly necessary. Documents that are likely to be used often should be bound to increase the likelihood of them being kept (rather than discarded).
    • Paper that has only been printed on one side should be retained for use as scrap paper. This paper can be used for telephone messages and note-taking. Some will be bound into notebooks for consultants' use, and these notebooks are kept with the bought notepads.
    • Using reusable high-grade plastic or glass cups for water, rather than the disposable plastic ones from the water cooler company.
  • Recycling of paper where possible, for example old newspapers. Confidential documents that are no longer needed are sent away for shredding and recycling.

Transportation

PACEC strives to encourage use of sustainable transport systems to minimise environmental impact and reduce the need to travel particularly by private car. Staff are encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport to get to work, and business trips should be made by train rather than car wherever possible.
